UPSC’s decision, a jolt to Kerala government?

The Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) decision not to consider officers of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) rank is a jolt to the Kerala government. The state government was reportedly in favour of  ADGP M R Ajith Kumar to be elevated. But UPSC decided not to consider ADGP level officers as top three IPS officers already made it to the final round. Hence, ADGP MR Ajith Kumar, considered close to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, did not make it to the shortlist of candidates for the post. UPSC’s decision is based on seniority, with the three officers being the most senior among those considered.
